Rue dell'Inchiostro Campania Aglianico IGT: A grape variety introduced by the Greeks along the Tyrrhenian coast at the time of the founding of their colonies (7th-6th century BC); this may explain the presence of the synonyms Ellenico, Ellanico, later changed to Aglianico. The name derives from the combination of Rue, a typical name given to the streets of Paternopoli following the passage of French rule, and “inchiostro,” which better defines the wine's characteristic deep purple color.
