Shipping Policy

This Shipping Policy applies to orders placed through the Vitis 45 Select Imports website.

Because wine is a perishable alcoholic beverage, shipping is subject to legal restrictions, adult-signature requirements, carrier requirements, weather conditions, product availability, and compliance review.

1. Where We Ship

We sell alcoholic beverages only to customers and recipients who are at least 21 years of age and only where the sale, shipment, delivery, and receipt of alcoholic beverages are lawful.

All alcoholic beverages sold through this website are deemed to be sold in Tennessee, and title passes to the Buyer in Tennessee. Vitis 45 Select Imports makes no representation as to the legal rights of any person or entity to ship, transport, import, receive, possess, or consume alcoholic beverages in any state or jurisdiction outside Tennessee.

If you request shipment to another state, you assume responsibility for determining whether you may lawfully import or receive alcoholic beverages in that state. Our acknowledgment of an order does not guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you.

If we are unable to ship wine to the state or destination requested, we will notify you before shipping your order to determine whether you wish to proceed, modify the order, hold the order, or cancel the order subject to applicable policies.

2. Adult Signature Required

An adult signature is required for delivery of alcoholic beverages.

The recipient must be at least 21 years of age and may be required to present valid government-issued identification to verify age and identity. Delivery will not be made to persons who are visibly intoxicated.

We recommend shipping to a commercial business address whenever possible to improve the likelihood that an eligible adult will be available to sign for delivery.

3. Processing and Shipment Timing

Shipment can usually be arranged within 7 business days after receipt of payment.

All shipment and delivery times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by carriers, weather, failed delivery attempts, compliance review, legal restrictions, incorrect shipping information, or events outside our control.

If we cannot ship your order within 7 business days, we will attempt to notify you of the delay.

Buyers will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information when available. If you do not receive tracking information within a reasonable period after the expected shipping date, you are responsible for contacting us to determine whether the order has shipped or whether the email was not received.

4. Carrier Delivery and Delivery Attempts

It is the Buyer’s responsibility to ensure that an eligible adult is available to receive the package at the time of delivery.

If no eligible adult is available, the carrier may make subsequent delivery attempts. If delivery remains unsuccessful, the order may be returned to Vitis 45 Select Imports.

If a shipment cannot be delivered, the Buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipment and any costs to resend the wines.

Packages returned as undeliverable will incur a $45 non-refundable return fee, in addition to any return shipment costs, redelivery costs, carrier fees, rerouting fees, shipping charges, handling charges, and applicable cancellation fees.

5. Extreme Weather Policy

Vitis 45 Select Imports has a policy not to ship wine during periods of extreme heat or extreme cold.

Transporting wine in extreme weather conditions, even by overnight service, may seriously damage wine. During periods of extreme weather, Vitis 45 Select Imports strongly advises against shipment or transport of wine by any means.

During such periods, we are pleased to provide complimentary short-term storage until better shipping conditions prevail, up to 90 days after purchase unless specifically agreed in writing by Vitis 45 Select Imports.

Storage fees may apply for storage longer than 90 days from the date of purchase.

If you request shipment during extreme weather, you may be required to provide written authorization releasing Vitis 45 Select Imports from liability for damage incurred to wines shipped during such conditions. Weather, heat, and cold damage are not covered by insurance.

The ultimate shipping method and timing are the Buyer’s responsibility.

6. Orders Held for Weather

If your order has not shipped within 90 days due to weather hold, customer request, or other delay, we will make several attempts by email and/or phone to contact you about the order.

If you do not respond, the wines ordered may be placed back into stock. We cannot guarantee that the same wines and vintages will be available at a future date.

You may be offered a credit for a future order or may incur a cancellation fee, depending on the circumstances and applicable policy.

7. Air Shipping

Buyers who request air shipping should be aware that changes in pressure can result in easing or failure of corks, particularly with older wines.

Vitis 45 Select Imports and its agents cannot assume responsibility for deterioration, cork movement, leakage, seepage, or other changes resulting from shipment.

8. Insurance and Shipping Damage

Insurance coverage, where available, covers breakage only. Insurance does not cover weather damage, heat damage, cold damage, wine deterioration, cork issues caused by transit conditions, confiscation, legal restrictions, failed delivery attempts, or other matters outside the scope of carrier or insurance coverage.

Wines must be inspected upon receipt. Breakage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery with photos and supporting documentation, as described in our Return and Refund Policy.

9. Shipping to Wine Storage Facilities

When shipping to a wine storage facility, the Buyer should notify the facility before the expected delivery date based on tracking information.

The Buyer should instruct the facility to open and verify the contents of the package before signing for delivery. The Buyer is responsible for confirming delivery with the wine storage facility at the time of delivery.

All packages, packing materials, contents, and delivery forms should be retained until any issue is resolved.
